Two things are easier when the translator is nearby. First, originals: if a court, a consulate or a school insists on a wet-ink signature and an embossed seal, you can collect the packet instead of waiting for the post. Second, apostilles: a document going back to Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan or Belarus usually needs a New York apostille, and we file those in person at the county clerk and the Department of State rather than mailing them across the country.
