About Certified Translation Center

We started translating because the translations we were being sent kept causing Requests for Evidence.

Who we are

Certified Translation Center is a Brooklyn-based translation and notarial services provider working in Uzbek, Russian and English. We serve clients in all fifty states online, and we file apostilles in person in New York.

We came to translation from the filing side. Our work began with immigration and business filings for the Central Asian community in New York — petitions, applications, corporate formations, tax matters — and translation was the step that kept going wrong. Documents came back from other providers with the seal untranslated, or with a client’s name spelled three different ways across three certificates, or with a confident English rendering of a stamp that was actually illegible in the original. Each of those creates a Request for Evidence, and each one costs a family months.

So we built the translation in-house, to the standard the filings actually required. That is the whole origin of this company.

What we do differently

The Uzbek problem, specifically

Uzbek is a thin market in the United States. There are not many qualified Uzbek–English translators, and the economics of the large online translation platforms do not support paying for one. The result is that a lot of “Uzbek translation” sold in America is produced through a Russian relay, or by an editor cleaning up machine output.

You can usually tell. A district name comes back as a person’s name. A patronymic disappears. The heading of a Soviet-era form is translated as though it were a modern one. The English reads fluently and the details are wrong — which is the worst combination, because nobody notices until an officer does.

We translate Uzbek directly, in Latin and Cyrillic script, and we recognize the document formats on sight because we handle the same forms every week.

What we are not

We are not a law firm. We do not give legal advice, we are not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency, and we cannot tell you which documents your case requires or how to file them. If you need that, you need an attorney or a BIA-accredited representative. What we do is translate, certify, notarize and apostille — accurately, on time, and at a price we publish.
