Why Arabic translation goes wrong in America
- Names. One Arabic name has many English spellings. If the translation differs from your passport, an officer sees two people. We use the passport spelling — send a photo of the passport page or type it in the order notes. On Saudi and Gulf documents the order is given name, father’s name, grandfather’s name, family name.
- Hijri dates (هـ). Common on Saudi and Yemeni documents and older Gulf records; some show both Hijri and Gregorian (م). We translate the date as written and add the Gregorian equivalent in a bracketed translator’s note — conversions can differ by one day (Umm al-Qura vs moon sighting).
- Eastern Arabic digits (٠١٢٣٤٥٦٧٨٩, and Persian forms such as ۴۵۶) are converted digit by digit; ID and record numbers are double-checked.
- Bilingual documents. Arabic/French (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon) and Arabic/English (the Iraqi Surat Qayd). USCIS needs a full translation — both parts. Mention it in the order notes; we confirm before starting.
- Religious vs civil marriage records. The U.S. Department of State says handwritten religious-institution marriage certificates from Egypt, and religious marriage certificates from Iraq, are not accepted for immigration — the civil record is. See Arabic marriage certificate.
Arabic reads right to left. The English translation mirrors the structure of the original — tables in the same order, seals noted as [Seal: …], stamps and handwritten notes included.

Countries we see most
Facts below are from the U.S. Department of State reciprocity schedule. Apostille or consular legalization is not needed for a translation filed with USCIS.
- Egypt — Birth records come from the Civil Status Organization (Ministry of Interior) as a computerized certificate (شهادة ميلاد مميكنة). For immigrant visas the State Department asks for the official bilingual version from CSO headquarters. Egypt is not an Apostille country.
- Yemen — Civil Status Authority. Many births and other events are registered late, and certificates are issued on information given by the requester. Dates may be Hijri.
- Syria — Civil Affairs (Ministry of Interior) records; the family civil-registry extract (بيان قيد عائلي) and individual extract (إخراج قيد فردي) are accepted alternates for birth.
- Iraq — The “Copy of Entry 1957” (Surat Qayd) from the General Directorate of Nationality — two-sided, with Arabic and English columns.
- Jordan — Civil Status & Passport Department; police record is the Ministry of Justice Certificate of Non-Conviction.
- Morocco — Bureau d’État Civil extracts (عقد الازدياد) — can be Arabic and French on one page. Morocco is an Apostille country.
- Lebanon — Directorate General of Civil Status. Documents may mix Arabic and French.
- Sudan — Directorate of Civil Rolls; police record is the Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Saudi Arabia — Ministerial Agency for Civil Affairs; birth certificates are unavailable for people born before 1968. Hijri dates are common. Apostille country since December 7, 2022.
- Algeria — Civil documents can be bilingual Arabic/French.
- Tunisia — Civil documents can be bilingual Arabic/French. Tunisia is an Apostille country.
- Palestine — Send the document — same rate, same process.

Frequently asked
Do you translate English into Arabic?
No. We translate Arabic into English only — certified for USCIS, courts, universities and credential evaluators.
Who translates my Arabic document?
A professional Arabic-to-English translator, who signs the Certificate of Translation Accuracy stating that the translation is complete and accurate and that he or she is competent to translate Arabic into English — the certification 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) asks for. Arabic orders are handled online and by email.
How is my name spelled in the English translation?
The way it is spelled in your passport. The same Arabic name can be written many ways in English, so send a photo of your passport page or type the spelling in the order notes.
My document has a Hijri date. What do you do with it?
We translate the date as written and add the Gregorian equivalent in a bracketed translator’s note. Conversions can differ by one day depending on the calendar used (Umm al-Qura or moon sighting), so the original date stays in the translation.
My document is in Arabic and French (or Arabic and English).
USCIS needs a full translation, which means both parts. Mention it in the order notes and we confirm with you before starting.
Does the translation need a notary for USCIS?
No. USCIS asks for a full English translation and the translator’s signed certification. Choose the $35 notarized tier only if the office you file with asks for a notary seal.
How much does Arabic translation cost?
$25 per page certified, or $35 per page certified and notarized — one flat rate for every language we translate. Rush 12-hour delivery is +$15 per page.
What one page costs, all-in
The short version for anyone comparing: a certified translation for USCIS is $25 per page — translation, Certificate of Accuracy, PDF in 24 hours. If the office you are filing with wants a notary seal, it is $35 per page and that is the total: translation, Certificate of Accuracy, notarization by a New York notary, 24-hour delivery. Most advertised per-page prices are for the translation only; the notary is added at checkout, or never priced at all.

"Not published" means no notarization price appears anywhere on their site. Prices change; verify with each provider before relying on this. We compare price and stated inclusions only, not quality.
